Millions of followers participated in a contest to determine the country with the best cuisine in the world. Hosted by online platform 'Pubity' in partnership with celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay, Moroccan cuisine beat Mexican in the final, taking 60% of the votes.
In a joint post on Instagram with Pubity he noted that this contest had been Pubity’s biggest ever, and revealed a Moroccan dish was one of his favorites. “My last time in Morocco and the Atlas Mountains with the Berbers, I got the amazing chance to cook that delicious chicken rfissa – one of my all-time favorite dishes,” he said.
Rfissa is a chicken dish served with lentils, fenugreek seeds, msemmen and the spice blend Ras el-hanou. Bread is often served with it. While it only started appearing in cookbooks in the past 30 years, it is a traditional dish that has been cooked across the country for many years.
